Fairy Stories and Traditional Tales

This half term our topic in Reception is Fairy Stories and Traditional Tales. This means that the starting point for a lot of our activities will be favourite stories such as The Three Billy Goats Gruff or Little Red Riding Hood.

Our role play area is currently set up as a supermarket and we will be visiting Morrisons to buy the ingredients to bake gingerbread men. We will then be changing the role play area into a Baker’s shop to link with stories such as The Little Red Hen.

We are eagerly anticipating our visit from the Freehand Theatre Company and their performance of Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Finally at the end of the term we will hold our Cinderella Ball and will be inviting the children to dress up as princes and princesses.

At Lidget Green we take part in lots of projects where the whole school works together. This year, we are working towards several awards:

Investors in Pupils, Investors in Health, the Artsmark Award and the Primary Quality Science Mark.

Working towards awards like these help us to make sure that the education and opportunities we offer your children are of the highest quality, judged against National Standards.

You will find the latest news about all of these awards on this page, in addition to whole school activities like the Pegasus Club, our e-twinning with schools in Denmark and Spain and our new ‘Learning Log’ approach to homework.

Computer Science and Education Week

For the past term 5/6F, 6H and 6L have been looking at basic coding. It seems likely that in the future knowing how to code a computer will be a vital job skill, so we have been learning the skills we will need!

As well as the games that were showcased on this blog a few weeks back, we have been looking at other coding programmes and techniques.

If you wish to have a look and practice coding yourself, click HERE!
