Years 5 and 6 Blog

This half term children in Nursery will be learning about Growth and Plants. As part of their topic, children will be going for walks in the local area to look at plants growing and new life. Back in Nursery, there will be a flower shop and a fruit and veg stall for them to play in to extend their learning.

This half term in Reception, we are finding out about 'Ourselves'. Our role play areas are set up as a baby clinic and a home. We will be painting and drawing pictures of ourselves and printing with our hands and feet. We will be using our senses to find out what things look, feel, smell, hear and taste like.
We will be singing songs about our bodies and learning how to keep healthy. We will be learning how to share with each other and take care of our classroom.

Please note that all children in Reception will take part in P.E lessons on Tuesday morning. Please ensure that your children do not wear tights, particularly under trousers, on P.E days. Children will need to be able to take off and put on their own sweatshirts, shoes and socks for P.E, so it would be helpful if they could practise this at home.

Library day will be Fridays. All children will choose a school library book to bring home to share with their parents. In order to choose a new book they need to return their book each Friday.

Thank you,

Reception Staff

We have a very exciting term planned for the children in KS1 this term! In Literacy we will be reading the story 'Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs'. It's a brilliant book! Both teachers and children are very excited to start writing their own stories based around the book!!

Our Topic for this Half Term and next is 'We live in Lidget Green'. For this we will be visiting our local area and learning a little bit more about the place we live and the people who live here.

This term Year 2 have SATs coming up too, so they will be working hard and trying their best. Year 1 will be practising for entering Year 2 by doing their work more independently on a morning, but continuing to enjoy continuous provision in the afternoons!

Our Topic for this Half Term is Enterprise in preparation for Enterprise Day which is on July 4th.

This term, In Year 6 we are busy getting prepared for their SATS tests which are in the 3rd week of term.  In topic, we are continuing to study our chosen countries, which are Brazil, Zambia and Nicaragua.  Later in the term we will be doing work on Enterprise and starting to prepare for our end of year production!

This is a test sports report description

At Lidget Green we take part in lots of projects where the whole school works together. This year, we are working towards several awards:

Investors in Pupils, Investors in Health, the Artsmark Award and the Primary Quality Science Mark.

Working towards awards like these help us to make sure that the education and opportunities we offer your children are of the highest quality, judged against National Standards.

You will find the latest news about all of these awards on this page, in addition to whole school activities like the Pegasus Club, our e-twinning with schools in Denmark and Spain and our new ‘Learning Log’ approach to homework.

Computer Science and Education Week

For the past term 5/6F, 6H and 6L have been looking at basic coding. It seems likely that in the future knowing how to code a computer will be a vital job skill, so we have been learning the skills we will need!

As well as the games that were showcased on this blog a few weeks back, we have been looking at other coding programmes and techniques.

If you wish to have a look and practice coding yourself, click HERE!
